How to become an animal keeper

Conditions

We expect a good exam (Realschule) with good marks in biology and maths as well as practical experience at a zoo.

Application

Application must at least include a CV and a copy of the latest report. Explain why you want to become an animal keeper. Also send in certificates of your practical terms.

Your application should reach the zoo by the end of February of the same year you want to start your career here.

We regret but we cannot send back your application.

Please keep in mind that we get very many applications and it is always a very difficult decicion to find the one person for the one traineeship.

Practical and theoretical traineeship

During the three years you get to know all animals at the zoo. You will also make a three-week-practical term at another zoo. Beside that, there are 2-week-terms at the school at Berlin. The final exams take place at the school at berlin and at Zoo Leipzig.
